Care instructions for our products
How to care for and maintain your Picture wetsuit?
All our products have been tested and are allergy friendly. Feel free to contact our customer service for any questions.
Use
Make sure all zippers are properly open when putting on your wetsuit. You should be perfectly comfortable, free to move around and breathe easily.
Mind that rings and nails may damage the fabric of your suit.
Put your wetsuit on carefully. We have selected the most flexible materials for their comfort and technical qualities. Avoid overstretching the fabric and seams. Do not step on one leg to pull the other off.
When slipping your leg into the wetsuit, the heel must not force on the material. The trick is to put your foot in a pointe position, or if you prefer, reuse a plastic bag by slipping your foot inside. The passage of the foot will be done easily!
Avoid putting on or taking off your wetsuit on abrasive surfaces. If possible, change in a shower tray or on a mat.
Care
Rinse your suit with clean water after each use: dried seawater on the suit will seriously damage the quality of the fabric.
Wash it regularly by hand with a cleaning product such as NST BACTERLESS to remove all traces of salt / sand / hydrocarbons.
Using this type of shampoo also preserves the stretch and fabric of your wetsuit.
Dry your wetsuit upside down, in the open air, out of sunlight or heat source.
Before and after each use, check your gear. If there is any damage or failure, contact your retailer or PICTURE customer service. We will be glad to advise you on repairing your item if necessary.
Always take your item to a qualified workshop or wetsuit retailer.
Storage
Proper storage will give your wetsuit maximum life expectancy:
• Do not store in sunlight, in a damp place or near a heat source.
End of life
When your suit is too much worn and no longer suitable, recycle it!
PICTURE customer service is at your disposal to assist you in this process.
How should I care for, clean, and maintain my product to ensure it lasts a long time?
To maintain, care for, and clean, we recommend hand or machine washing Picture products.
How should I protect, clean, and care for my Picture cap?
First, make sure that you keep the cork brim dry.
Dip your cap into warm water (keep the brim out of the water) and then scrub the fabric lightly with soapy water (detergent, dish soap, or regular soap). You can use a soft brush to scrub the dirtiest areas. Rinse with clear water.
Never place your cap in a dryer or it may shrink. You should always let your cap air dry far from any source of heat (never wring out your cap or you will deform it).
How do I clean, maintain, and care for products made with organic cotton?
To thoroughly clean your garment without running the risk of doing any damage, make sure that you close all Velcro, buttons, and zippers, loosen the elastic drawstrings, and turn the garment inside out before placing it in the washing machine.
Avoid using products that contain chlorine, bleach, whiteners, softeners, scents, fragrances, or coloring agents.
For the very first washing, use a “color catcher” dye trapping sheet to avoid any color bleeding. During the manufacturing process, our clothes receive a non-chemical treatment to add color, and to save water we do not pre-wash them.
All clothing made by Picture should be machine washed at 30°C (85°F) maximum. We recommend air drying your garment far from any sources of heat.
Use a gentle spin cycle setting to keep fuzz (pilling) from forming.
How can I clean my down parka or jacket?
Only machine wash your down parka or jacket if indicated on the label.
Use a liquid soap that does not contain any detergents, softeners, or bleach, these chemical additives reduce the effectives of the treated fabrics in your parka or jacket. We recommend using products made specifically to wash down. If you use a traditional laundry detergent, run the garment through a second rinse cycle to eliminate any chemical residue.
Before washing, empty every pocket of all contents and then close the pocket zippers. Close all other zippers as well.
Wash at 30°C (85°F) and choose a gentle spin cycle to avoid breaking the fibers. Once out of the machine, the down parka or jacket will be heavy and soggy.
Shake it well to remove out as much water as possible, to air out the fill material, and to help the parka or jacket regain its loft.
Let your down jacket or parka air dry by laying it flat between two thick towels and far from any source of heat.
Never twist your down jacket or parka to wring out any excess water, you run the risk of damaging the partitions between baffles.
Turn it over multiple times when drying, shaking it each time to adequately redistribute the down feathers.
How should I wash my backpack?
Picture backpacks should be hand washed in water using a soft brush or sponge.
Never machine wash or dry your backpack.
Let your backpack air dry, keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from any sources of heat.
Once per year we recommend spraying a product such as “NST PROOF” on your backpack to reactivate its water repellency and to avoid stains.
Never use an aerosol, otherwise you run the risk of inhaling fine particles and potentially altering the performance capability and quality of your backpack.
What can I do to make sure that products with cork last a long time?
We highly recommend hand washing all of our apparel and accessories that have cork in them (jackets, caps, belts, beanies, etc.). This avoids the risk of damaging the cork.
How do I maintain a garment’s water repellency and waterproofness over time?
Machine wash, at 30°C (85°F), all products with a waterproof membrane.
We recommend that you use a gentle detergent such as “NST WASH” for delicates.
Never use softeners or bleach.
To thoroughly clean your garment without running the risk of doing any damage, make sure that you close all Velcro, buttons, and zippers, as well as loosen the elastic drawstrings, before placing it into the washing machine.
If the tag on your garment indicates that it is okay, machine dry the garment at a low temperature setting to revive its water repellency.
Since the original durable water repellent finish does not last forever, you need to retreat your garments when water no longer beads up on the face fabric.
Renew the durable water repellent finish every time you wash the garment by pouring a product such as “NST PROOF” in the detergent dispenser (or apply it after washing the garment by using a spray).
Never use an aerosol, otherwise you run the risk of inhaling fine particles and potentially altering the performance capability and quality of your jacket.
We do not recommend that you bring your ski jacket or pants to the dry cleaner.
What do the symbols mean on my garment’s product care tag?
